Our University was shaken when news of the Corona Virus spreading rapidly broke. On Thursday we were told that Friday, March 13, 2020 would be the last day of on-campus classes. Everything would be online for the rest of the semester. That is devastating to a music department where face time is critical to performance.
We announced on Friday that we would hold an impromptu concert for everyone who wanted to participate and share what they have been working on so hard. It would start at 6 p.m. in Hoag Music Hall and continue until everyone who wanted had a chance to perform. We had no idea who would turn out for such a flash concert.
Four hours and forty-five minutes after it began, at 10:45 p.m. the last notes rang out. It was an incredibly experience for everyone. Dr. Harley Ihm was able to video it and built this Youtube Channel for everyone to enjoy their work.
